I have an 88 vette that I reworked w/ an 850cfm edelbrock carb, 350 hughes race tranny, lots of custom stuff but for now the short block is still stock, and I'm useing all the stock pulleys except I bought the replacement to get rid of the emissions pump but there is still a pulley there, anyway, on the water pump there is a 10 or 11 inch metal disc that I cant figure what its for, I just put it back on so I could get the car running but I want to get rid of this heavy *** thing, I can only think of some type of balancer, or wind deflector...?, if I take out the 4 bolts I could take it off then put the bolts back in to hold the pulley on the water pump, does anybody know what I'm talkin about or know what this stupid thing does?, with how much it weighs I'd think I would gain about 10-15 hp...... let me know if you need a pic...., thanks
