Default C5/C6 Upper Control Arm Dimensions

Hi all,

Greetings from one of your heavier, weaker counterparts--the 2004-2007 CTS-V. I was wondering whether anyone had a spare front upper control arm and could take two measurements for me.

As shown above, I'm looking for two dimensions. The first ("Dimension A") is the width of the aluminum receiver containing the rubber bushing. The second ("Dimension B") is the separation between the aluminum receivers.

If nobody has a spare arm laying around, no worries--I can order a used one. But if someone would spare me the $70-100 R&D cost, I'd be greatly appreciative.

Thanks,
--Ryan

Have you tried your local dealer? Could measure what you need without having to buy.

The dealership's not going to put a C6 on a lift to do the measurements. Even if I could get a caliper into the wheel well with the car on the ground, I think they'd have a problem with me doing that.

No I'm talking about taking one out of their parts department if they stock these.

Ah, I can check. That's a worthwhile idea.

Thank you sir!

The upper control arms on the V2 (2009-2015) have Dim A = 1.140" and Dim B = 7-5/8". The V1 and STS-V are very similar. Since dimension B is smaller than on the C5 and C6 Corvette, we can't use the your upper control arms to do an initial fitment and alignment check. But I'm glad we ran this to ground. I can now safely spend the time needed to model an upper control arm in Solidworks.

Assuming this works, we should be able shed a couple of pounds of unsprung weight, as well as being able to take advantage of a lot of the performance parts you guys have available. The cast iron V1 spindle weighs 13.1 lbs, the aluminum STS-V spindle (a common upgrade) weighs 8.7 lbs, and the C5/C6 Corvette spindle weighs 5.8 lbs. Cheers!
