1970 stingray project
Hey everyone. I just wanted to fill you guys in on some of the projects we are working on. This is not meant to market our shop, but rather to share some of the enthusiasm we have for racing and quality built vehicles.
The latest update here at JCG has been with the 1970 Corvette Cris purchased back in 2015. Some of you may remember this original LT1 car had previously spent some time in the Nor-Cal area where it had seen quite a few race days. At that time, it was powered by a 13:1 small block Chevy.
Cris was able to get his feet wet at an SCCA auto cross event and then the car came back South.
With help from Van Steel Corvettes and RAFT, the suspension was brought up to speed using JRI double adjustable shocks and Eibach Springs.
A Borgerson steering box was added in addition to Wilwood front and rear disc brakes and a Wilwood master cylinder and proportioning valve.
The small block was removed in favor of a Mullenix Racing Engines LS6. This ensured the car remained streetable without sacrificing any of the performance that would be required. The engine is mated to a Legend and Gear Transmission LGT-700 5 speed and uses a RAFT Motorsports clutch with Wilwood hydraulics.
Regarding fuel, we worked together with Vaporworx and using a GM module, we were able to come up with a fuel system that was practical and serviceable.
Aesthetically, the car was stripped and repainted with Mopar F8 Green. Vents were also added to the hood to aid in heat management.
Inside the car is an assortment of Autometer gauges and to wrap everything together, the car is sitting on a set of 18" Forgeline GA3R wheels.
