![Question](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I was wondering if anyone else has any pics or experience with going to this size tire. I want to keep the rims I have on my vette but add just a little bit wider tires. I wanted to know how the tires would look on my rims that are 9.5 wide and if going to 35 is too small of a sidewall. Thanks

I have been researching drag radials and I was told by the Techs at DISCOUNT TIRE that the widest I could go on a 9.5 rim was a 285/35/18. The only DR that they could supply in this size was a Nitto 555RII. I did not want to shell out the cash for the Nit's so I went with a BFG Drag radial in the 275/35/18 size. So to get to your question The 285/35/18 should be the largest tire that fits the Corvette 18X9.5 rims. Call either TireRack or Discount Tire they are glad to discuss things like this. Good luck.

FYI on overall tire height:
275/40 = 26.61 inches
285/35 = 25.95 inches
This is from Nitto's web site. That is over half an inch difference in overall height. Although it may fit the rim, I don't think it would look right at all.

I will be one of the funny ones when I get the 275/35/18's mounted Thursday. I am going from a 275/40 to a 275/35 which roughly eqauls a hieght difference of 1". But this will be divided by 2, due to the measurement being on a diameter.

The vette is a 97 and I just wanted to beef up the tire size a little without sacrificing the look and replacing the rims. I do believe 35 would look kinda funny but then again wouldn't 285-40's too? Thanks for the help guys. P.s. to the first guy, I'm 22, and I guess that isn't young enough haha.
