LS1 / 4l60e swap
Were doing an LS1 engine swap. I’ve hired someone who’s very familiar with LS1 engines but not necessarily C3 Corvettes.
Ive been doing a lot of reading over the past two weeks, which has led to these questions. But, let me provide my setup before asking.
1982 Corvette Collectors Edition
ECM: purchasing a Holley Terminator
Swap engine: 2001 Chevrolet Camaro Z26: LS1 with 4l60e. This year corvette has an LS6 intake.
Questions:
- Because I have a gen 3 f-body LS1, I don’t need to purchase a Moroso oil pan. I’ve read conflicting information on this, but most seem to be of this belief. Can anyone confirm this?
- I’m considering a swap kit (see below picture) from either 824 Motorsport or Muscle Rods. Both seem to be the exact same kit but it doesn’t say if the engine mounts are offset or in stock location. Anyone have experience with these kits?
- What’s the best accessory brackets to purchase. Both 824 and Muscle Rods sell their versions of brackets, but I’ve seen newer support for the Holley brackets. I think I’d like to purchase the Holley brackets but I don’t know which mounting location (see below picture) to purchase; high, middle, or,low
- I’d love to purchase a cam and stall converter but have no clue how to select one. I’ve tried to research, but honestly, I’m lost when researching cams. I know a lot of it matters on current setups and numbers but I’m more of a driver than a mechanic. Lol
