Default et street wheel options?

I do alot of street racing and cannot hook on bfg 315/30-18 drag radials with nearly 600 rwhp on the spray. I am wanting to switch to et streets.

I know that a 16" is supposed to be better than a 17" tire/wheel for hooking, but is it that big a difference?

I am thinking about getting another front set of z06 17" rims to run on the rear with 26x 11.5-17 et streets.

but if it's THAT big a difference maybe just firebird 16" rims with 16" et streets?

You poor bastard, I'm so sorry you have to deal with that pesky 600hp! I hate you in the kindest of ways! Man that car must be fast as hell!

Not to hijack the thread, but this actually applies to the thread...I have heard that if you wanted to use a 16" F body rim, that you might have to do some grinding for them to fit properly. If not, that would be cool, because I have a set of 16" firebird rims with a brand new set of BFG DR's on them.

Firebird or Camaro wheels will fit but will require extensive grinding on the knuckle and ball joint.17 inch ET Streets don't hook like a 16 incher.I bought a set of CCW drag wheels with tires for my car. They're pricey but I drive around on them most of the time.Unfortunately we don't have alot of options with these cars as far as drag wheels go.

If I am not mistaken don't they offer a 345/35/18 drag, that being over an inch wider per wheel may make a difference, don't know if that will fit, but I remember someone selling their car that had those size tires on the rear with custom made HRE rims. I just couldn't imagine any car with 600 hp hooking very well at all except for pure drag tires. If I am not mistaken also, I believe that they have true drag radials in 17" sizes, by Mickey Thompson. Just use some Z06 front rims on the back of the car. I think just gaining an inch in sidewall will make a huge difference, a lot more flexability!

The difference is the sidewall. With a 16 inch wheel you are allowed to have more sidewall.

Default MT STREET-17"

Go for it. Just put my 17" MT ST on 435 + RWHP on my C5 and they will hold ! I know you don't spray out of the hole because I just took a 150+ NOS off mine. 17" will pull a Hell of a holeshot. They will fit fine on Z06 front rims. C5JIM

I have heard that regular size c5 wheels actually work better then the z06 because it gives you a little more in the way of sidewall, and so actually has a wider contact patch on the ground when launching...

Is anyone running into problems with stability, etc with radials on the front and ET Streets on the rear?

you can get a set of 16" draglites made to fit... and then throw the et streets to them, but is there a reason not to go to et drags?(you dont have to worry about a driveshaft saftey loop or c-clip eliminators, lol......(though you will need the extended studs)

I am also wondering about the stability question. It is said you can't mix the two (bias and radial) .

Has anyone tried it?
