So what are some common C5 stuff to look out for?
So what are some common C5 stuff to look out for? Off hand anything to look for or expect from a C5? you know how ls1 f-bodies are prone ro warped rotors, healight fade, etc...
Anything like this on the C5? specifically a '01 6-speed. My dad has one, and just wondering if there is anything to look for.

the drivers side seal on the rearend is prone to leak. the pass side does too, but its not as common. the factory hpipe is also prone to breaking at the flanges to the muffler pipes. ive only seen that a couple times, but its happened to others as well. the headlight motors can cause problems, but not like pontiacs it seems.
theres not really anything id say watch out for. they are solid cars, and if taken care of will last and hold up quite well.

Common C5 problems are a driver's seat which "rocks" slightly (too much play in it), faded (or disappearing) display for the dual zone climate control, power window motors and regulators, piston slap/oil consumption (mostly on 2000-2004s, not as much on the 97-99s), the steering column staying locked, bad reception from the Bose system, and other minor electrical gremlins. On the whole they aren't as unreliable as it seems. My car only has a few minor issues (the regulator for the passenger side window is gone, and I sometimes get no AM reception)
