Default B2K callaway vette

I have the chance to purchase a Callaway twin turbo vette. It is a '91 model with 8000 miles on it. Advertised at 382hp and 1 of like 62 made I beleive. My question is the $26k he wants for it. Is it worth it? Are they easily modded (more boost)? Is it worth keeping original? Sticker was around $37k new and apperently the value has not gone up at all. If anyone knows anything about these cars please chime in, I am considering buying this car.

I've only read about them. I would just say if you are looking for a bad *** performance vette, go get a Z06 for that much money. If you really love the car and feel that it is special owning 1 of 62, get it. It's a personal decision. Maybe you could take that money and put a something bigger in your T/A. Like a stroker motor? As for me, I wouldn't buy a C4; I don't care if it was 1 of 1 with a 1,000hp. I just don't like them that much.

Callaway's were way more than $37k new. They were on par with the ZR1 performance wise and costs just as much. At this price I will assume that it is a coupe and in good condition but not great. If you plan on driving the car daily then do not get it. They are too tempermental. Do not buy one to mod either. The L98 was good for its time but with the LS1 out there you can and should do better unless you are after a rare car. At that price I would suspect that it does not have the full body kit either making it hard to pick in a crowd unless your hard core on your vettes. Some people did not like that (same thing with the ZR1). As for price with the assumptions being its a standard coupe with an auto and no body kit the price is in line for this car.

Callaways are awesome cars.It says 382hp,but you didn't look at the torque, the L98 B2Ks were like 525ft lbs across the rpms. They were much more than 37k,they will be worth more than a zo6 in the long run,zo6s were way over produced.Theres a couple videos floating around the inter-net of a 90 callaway smoking a couple zo6 from a roll. They have brutal torque, which moves the car,not horsepower.A perfect example is a stock 90 vette,L98-245hp,and it runs 13.8 @ 100...now add twins and a 6 speed.
This is my friends car,and he beats cars with 375 hp,like chevells and novas,as usual, horsepower is very misleading.Do a google search for callaways, find some dynos and check out the flat and massive torque line.
Post some pics,i would buy one in a second if i had the extra cash,i will never give up the c5..

I was wrong about the price I looked at it wrong, Base price for Corvette $24759, Price for B2K $36750. He is sending me some Pics of it, When I get them I will post them. Totl price for the car was over $62000. He still wants $26k for it. Could it have lost that much value is is this just a smokin deal?

That car is super rare.....also, it doesn't have the visual appeal that you might be lookin' for.

As was mentioned, that car hauls ***......no one really knows about them, so I am sure you will get into a lot of great races....LOL

I would never turn someone away from getting a vette, but a bone stock 02 Z06 will smoke a lot of modded F and Y bodies.....a couple bolt ons and you are untouchable.

For $26 grand, it isn't a steal, the car is 15 years old, plus it may have a lot of shake rattle and roll which was the major complaint of some early C4's.

Lets see some pics!!!!

All B2Ks were L98s. You can mod them but do plenty of research. A friend has ported the plemun, turned the boost up, some other small things and is ~440rwhp and 565 rwtq if I remember correctly. Norris in Orlando did the tuning on the car.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=834586 is the most recent I could find

If it does not have the aero body kit then this is a good price provided it has a clean history.

My buddy owns an 88 Callaway. I know a bit about them. If you have any specific questions, let me know. They will continue to appreciate in value as the years go by. I don't see them loosing value.

Talk to the Callaway owners at the Callaway forum. They should be able to answer all your questions.
