Default Vibrating Headlight Assembly Fix?

How do I fix a shaking headlight?

It appears to me that he headlight assembly is loose where the arm that raises and lowers the assembly attaches to the bottom of the assembly. The arm is attached to the assembly by a metal pin held on by 2 metal rivets. Any ideas??? Thx.

have you tried tightening the manual open/close ****... that will put pressure on the arms and may solve your problem...

Yip. Tried it. If I can't figure it out through the forum then I'm going to call a dealer on Monday and try to talk to a Corvette tech. Hopefully, they will be able to offer a solution.

Did you resolve the problem and how did you do it? I have the same exact issue on my passenger side. Hope you were able to fix it.

Hi Kawipower,

I was unable to resolve the problem. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it. I guess when I get some time I will take the headlight assembly apart and try to find the problem/solution. Does anyone know if the service manual has any suggestions for resolving a vibrating headlight assembly? Thx.

just thought i would add to this.. i accidently broke my headlight gear by turning on it the wrong way..

you have to remove the 3 phillips screws to the headlight trim and then the three that hold the motor in there. no other unbolting is necessary.

the 180* rotate fix did not help mine; it skipped on the way up instead of on the way down.. i ended up prying the cover apart and rotating the metal thing that the shaft sits in inside the gear another 90* and this fixed it.. you want to put the broken gear part directly to the left (counter clockwise) of the screw gear when facing you. reinstall it with the headlight in the up position.. the gear will then have all fresh teeth to rotate on clockwise as the headlight closes and then opens again

i also noticed the case of the motor was rockign around causing a change in teeth engagement and giving slack in the door assembly.. i took a punch and hit on the 4 crimp tabs around the metal case of the motor that holds it to the plastic gear housing and felt the slack go away as i did it more.. this significantly helped my headlights being loose when they are up. now i want to do the other side..

boy was it a pain in the *** to get to those 3 screws though!

*this was for the drivers side light.. if the pass. side is a mirror image of the drivers assembly then the broken teeth would need to go to the right.. i havent looked at that one.

this is the page i referred to .. i used superglue to re attach the gear cover
