learing how to tell the difference.. can anybody identify what kind of vette and what year just by the body style? im trying to learn by heart, whether it be a pre 02 z06 or just a regular corvette what were the changes in the body styles?
Z06 came with brake ducts, badging, and different rims, but still retained the FRC bodystyle. Verts look like soft-top FRC's, Coupes have a swept hatch. Can also tell older vettes apart pretty easily, ie; ZR-1 vette was much wider and came with different rims. Usually minor differences like that, but once you know to look for them you can spot it from a mile away.
With some of the older ones you just have to know the differences. Like 58s I believe are the only ones with chrome trunk rails. Wiith 59 and 60 are the same minus seat pleating (one is vertical, other is horizontal). For the midyears its all about the fender and engine options, and hoods. Each big block car had its own hood w/ the 67s only getting the stingers. C3s, early ones have a diff front than post 72/73 cars, on top of roof, fender and rear stylings I believe. 84-90 C4s are diff from post-90 ZR-1s, and post-91 C4s in both front ends, rear ends, grilles and interior stylings. Only 93-95 ZR-1s had the diff rims, the 90-92s had the basic turbines like a typical vette did. 91-96 is easy to tell by fender and exhaust styling. C5s, its just knowing what to look for. baldurann hit it on the head for the most part. But I could build a ragtop C5 and make a Z06 clone and you'd never be able to tell the difference w/o lookin @ the VIN
