2.73 and 3.15 carriers are smaller and less durable than the getrag 3.42 and 3.73 units.
Installing aftermarket ring and pinions would likely be an issue in these.

Re: Rear Carrier Differences? Every gear set that Getrag makes for the C5 is different, even the 3.73 housing is differnt than the OEM gear boxes.
That is why I am afraid of the 3.90 gears that are on the market, as they are designed to go into a housing (3.42?) that Getrag says is too small.
This is from a friend of mine that works in Getrag, here in NC.
