I am beginning to look at buying a hardtop or coupe in the next few months. I just miss having a fun car to drive. What are the differences in the Z06 compared to both the coupe and the hardtop...as far as handling goes? Would it be possible to convert a 2000 C5 into a C5 with the suspension of a Z06? The power part of the cars will be made up for later on. But I want it to handle like a Z06. Not trying to make a knock-off Z....just something that performs similar.
Thanks for any input.

You'll need 2 springs ($400'ish apiece), 2 swaybars ($270 for both with metal endlinks), and 4 shocks (dunno the pricing on those) to really convert the suspension over.
I'll be doing this soon and documenting part#'s and install procedure.

The only suspension difference between the Z06 and all other C5's are: Transverse springs(leaf springs), Sway bars, and Shocks.
The Z06 has a bigger front sway bar then all others, while the rear Z06 sway bar is the same for all '01-02 Z51 suspension equipt C5's (regardless if it's a coupe, hardtop, or vert).
The Z06 front transverse spring is the same for all '01-02 Z51 suspension equipt C5's (regardless if it's a coupe, hardtop, or vert), while the rear Z06 transverse spring is stiffer then all others.
As for the shock......go with Bilstien Sports.
New: - (4)Bilstien Sport shocks $280 + shipping
New: - Z06 Sway bars $270 + shipping
New: - Z06 springs $800 + shipping
Keep an eye out for fellow forum members selling their used Z06 suspension part and you can save a bundle......that's what i did.
FYI: I did the "Z06" suspension conversion from the base suspension (see sig below) and it was a 100% all around improvement.

How hard was it swapping the springs? The rear looked easy, but I've not seen the front just yet.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Actually they the whole process (sway bars, shocks , springs and lowering) was really easy. However i ended up doing mine one upgrade at a time (first shocks, then sway bars, then springs & lowering). But if done all at once you'll save alot of time.......mainly from not having to raise and lower the car each time, and not having to remove and install certain pieces that have to come off.
If you like some specific help tips for installation of any or all of the suspension upgrade pieces feel free to email me at e_lynch@stonemedia.com
