c5 exhausts
it looks like the corsa and borla cat-back systems are very similar in price and quality. but what about that other borla system that has more of a straight through design with smaller 'in line' type mufflers. it is priced about 200.00 cheaper in one catalog. is it quite a bit louder at idle? does it perform that much better than the other factory look systems? thanks
The straight through design systems typically have more resonance while cruising down the highway. This drone can be very annoying.
As far as performance gains, even the best cat-back exhaust system will be only 10rwhp better than the stock exhaust. The factory exhaust is not very restrictive. I replaced mine for looks and sound.

I own the Corsa Pace Car exhaust. It has no resonance while cruising and a wonderful sound at WOT. Decellerating sometimes gives a loud pop out the exhaust but I'm told that goes away of you add an X-pipe.
The two bolt-ons that provide the most performance gains are an air intake such as the MTI Ram air, BPP Vortex, or Donaldson and long tube headers such as the ones made by TPIS, LG Motorsports and FLP.

so which system did you use? if the factory is ok are the cold air intake mods enough to perk-up the stock ls1? i dont think id like the highway drone enough to replace stock. what about those corssover pipes? do they help? also what about subs added to the bose system do you have any thoughts? i looked at an infinity bass link today for around 500.00. but they say it could pick up engine noise if im not changing the whole system.
I've got the Indy's as well--along with Corsa's X-pipe and TPIS LT's...
I've heard the B&B tri-flo PRT's-I didn't personally like them...I thought they were too high-pitched.
The Borla XR-1-(the new style of which I think is called the Stinger) is the resonator-only straight-pipe style 66 mentioned--they sound great outside, but I also have heard that they are loud inside...
My Corsa's have a strong-sounding burble to them as you let off, but I don't ever get a loud popping or anything like that...and since I have a pretty big cam, and wind to 7000RPM, it sounds like a damned pure-bred racecar at WOT <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
I'm very happy with my decision, but there are a lot of equally happy customers of other systems, as well...
Since you're really not getting a performance gain, you should let your ears decide for you--you'll know your favorite when you hear it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

I use the Borla Stinger system,its a very light straightforward system with 2 resonators and 2 four inch exhaust tips,its a great sounding,free flowing system. <img src="http://www.xmotorsports.com/exhaust/media/borla_stinger.jpg" alt=" - " /> <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />
