Dyno numbers for LS1 in Firehawk
Thought some of you corvette owners, might want to see real dyno numbers on the LS1 engine in other cars. I find it interesting that they really are so close.
I dynoed my 2000 Formula (LS1) and my new 2002 Firebird Formula, both with LS1 engines.
I was surprised to see this:
2000 Formula 292.3 RWHP 302.0 RWTorque
2002 FirehawK 297.6 RWHP 311.0 Max Torque
The only mods to the Formula were a custom 3" exhaust by Random technology with their super high flow cats, and the Random Tech cat back 3" exhaust. I also modified the stock air lid for more flow, and added a K&N filter. There are other mods, but not performance oriented.
NOTE: The 02 Formula Firehawk comes stock with the '01 Z06 intake, a new custom air lid by Donaldson and has an advertised HP of 345.
I wonder if shorty headers would add any more, and also would like you corvette owners opinion on shorty headers, what you really gain, and how difficult are they to add.

Pulling off the restrictive exhaust manifold and going to equal-length headers will most certainly net you a gain--though the shorties are supposed to be a lot easier to install, I wouldn't recommend them, go long-tube--you'll be better off overall, and get better #'s...just get a reputable shop to put them on for you
If u want to compare a 2000 Formula and 2002 Z28 power look at my dyno. My car dyno'd stock at just 400Miles 292RWHP and 314RWTQ. So if u notice i think the LS6 intake helps the TQ more than HP. After adding a LID and LM it gained a 33RWHP and 24RWTQ which impressed the whole place i made my dyno runs at. So the 2002 have more power than 2000 in my opinion, maybe 10RWHP and 15RWTQ. Don't forget my car isnt broken in until now.
