Well I guess I'm an ***. In another thread a few weeks ago I stated that the LT5 was an iron block SBC with 16 valve DOHC Al heads (32 total). I could swear I read (long ago when the ZR1 was new) that they used the beefier Truck block as the starting point.

So, I guess I'm just wondering where the hell I got that mis-information? I thought I read it in like Motortrend or some such in '89 or something...?

The 427 All aluminum Big Block, those where 500+hp when they were uncapped and tuned for the strip. The cool thing is that GM only had those blocks because of the Chapparal 427 engines they used in the 2D, 2F,(both LeMans Cars) 2E, 2G and the 2J sucker car, and the ugly 2H.

Other than that, i'm with the LS6. The whole point of the ZO6 is you can have one of the fastest cars on the planet for 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 etc.... the price of the other fast cars. On top of that you can upgrade that much easier than the LT5. Funny the LS6 is based off of the Vette's LeMans engine.
