C5 and SS?

i dont know much about these cars, but my freind says his 2000 SS has the same engine as the C5 vette. true or false?

Unless it is a 2002 ZL-1. Those came with LS6s but only 69 were made. But in point of fact all ls1s are basically the same, Vette or Camaro.
