Default 67 Corvette Questions

I was recently asked to help with restoring a '67 Corvette 327 350HP. I do not know if this is the original motor or not but I really do not know how to check. My questions are where can I find a wiring schematic for the front headlights? The car is currenty missing really bad and I am guessing that the timing is way off. The car has not been ran since '82 and has been sitting in this shop collecting dust since. He said he drove the car in the shop, hasn't touched anything. Any suggestions on what to check? The car is pretty much rust free, it does a little surface rust but it can easily be ground off without taking much metal at all. The car is in really good shape for it's age and for what it's duty has been, collecting dust, but where to start. Any sites for a guide or what-not? Any advice would greatly be appreciated, he also has another 427 '68, once again I do not know if this is the factory motor but he says it's supposed to be, that will be coming up next for a ground-up restoration. It has the front end, rear end, interior, dash, frame rails, suspension, the car is in a million pieces and he can not afford to pay someone to do this for him. I asked about buying either of the cars and he says if I will help he would consider GIVING me one. That would be sweet but once again, where in the world to start??? I am by no means an expert mechanic but I can "hold my own" I guess so to speak. Or maybe it should be a better way to say it by saying I can follow instructions to the t. Thanks for the help in advance. And like I said, any links to help would definately be great.

In 67, they were putting the "build sheet" on the gas tank, that is something to check, for the engine, the seriel no was stamped on the engine boss (by No 2 cyl) along with the engine type. I have a 350hp block from a 67 in my '64, I will check it later for the engine code, it should be something like HH. To set the timing, get a timing light with an advance, static should be about 10 deg and at 3000 rpm it should be about 38 deg. Also, you might try www.ncrs.com for other books and info.

Checked on the engine codes, the last 2 letters on the engine stamp pad will be HT-special high performance, HP-SHP, PS and A/C or KH-California cars-SHP, A/C and A.I.R.

Alright thanks, I am visiting the site now. Maybe this will be a little relief from the ls1 for a little while. I am having a lot of trouble making up my mind on what to do with the issues at hand. Restoring this car will not be easy by any means but it will easier as far as making decisions on. It was factory red, both of them were I was told, and both are being restored to original. Not many decisions in this. On the other hand I have a '69 C-10, it's got a 454 H.O. waiting for it to have the chassis, paint done. The interior is almost through for now. I put in some seats from an LT series truck, leather with a seat warmer. A DVD/CD/MP3 player in, a nice custom center console, and a few other goodies, moved the gas tank etc etc...it's been an ongoing project for the last 4 years. Another with alot of decisions though. We'll see how it turns out. I'd really like to put in an LS1 but I don't want to at the same time. Also found a factory big-block Chevelle for sale last weekend for $2500, needs some rust repair but not too much. Still has a factory 396 too I believe, may be a 454, owner wasn't sure.
