The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Yeah, it would be sick for a Vette to be faster than all those cars, but I dont see there being a strong market for a 100k+ "super vette" when it wont be THAT much different than the 70k vette GMs already offering. Sure it'll be lighter, have some CF and a possible blower...but if we're talking a 20k-25k+ difference, a few tenths and all this other stuff, whats the point? Why build a super vette, when the C6 Z06 will do the job and save $$$ for customers? Hell, the Sledgehammer still holds a record for doing 254.76 in 88, and none of those other exotics have done that, not McLaren, Koni, Ferrari, Lambo etc.
GM has bigger problems right now IMO to worry about stealing customers away from Ferrari, Lambo, Mercedes etc. They dont need to worry about top shelf performance of exotic and super cars. Yes the car will sell, but I dont see this being a huge sale, or help to GM.

Snipit of 57 SS history
The 1957 Corvette SS was Duntov’s technical tour de force. Originally conceived to take on Jaguar and Mercedes at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , the SS was a stunning machine, both visually and mechanically.
A featherweight magnesium body enveloped a tubular steel space frame that featured coil-over-shock front suspension, a de Dion rear axle and inboard-mounted aluminum drum brakes. A fuel-injected small-block V-8 resided under its long, sloping hood.
The SS made its maiden voyage at Sebring, where suspension problems forced its retirement after only 23 laps. But there was worse news in store: the Automobile Manufacturers Association announced its opposition to factory involvement in motorsports. The SS project was shelved – although the SS was resurrected long enough to lap Daytona International Speedway at 155 mph during opening-day ceremonies in 1959
