Default C5 Question

A few years ago I had a 99 Z28 and if you wanted the engine out of the car you had to drop it out the bottom. I was wondering if that is the case for a 97-04 vette as well or can you pull it out from the top? Also, how much HP with the stock tranny and half shafts hold up too? Does somebody make HD parts for the drivetrain of these cars? Thanks in advance...

I know guys that pull their F-body motors out from up top. I'd have to say that it would be interesting to do it that way for the Vette. All I've seen are out the bottom. I imagine that it can be done out the top, but you really need some small hands and you know what they say about that .......... lol!

DTE makes parts for the rear end, braces too...Gear box on ebay sells the upgraded part packages for the trans. Stock shaft I ve seen go 10's all day long and not break...The problem is the flexing in the rear end, which DTE brace fixes...If i can help drop me a line

out the bottom is the only way to go imo. motor comes out alot cleaner and alot less hassle. plus you dont have to worry about the motor banging around the enginebay from the bottom like you do from the top.
