Default 130,000 for a 06 ZO6

Me and a friend drove over to Tennesse in his 01 C5 and thought we would drop by Bill Heard Chevrolet (one the biggest if not the biggest chevy dealership in TN) to see if just mayby they had a ZO6. We walked in the show room floor and there was a silver 06 ZO6. Holy **** pictures don't do that car justice. It had a sold sticker in the front windshield. We asked for one of the sales men we knew and he said the guy who ordered the car for $5000 over sticker wanted a red one, and decided not to take the silver b/c of the screw up. The car MSRP was 72,000. The salesman said some big shot from a dealership in California gave 130,000 for the car, and that it was leaving next week to be shipped. They had the car blocked off so you couldn't get within touching distance.

They had two C5s outside that had been traded in on 05s
They had two 05s outside one SOM six speed vert and that dark red targa top in an auto.

The salesman we knew said hey you guys need to come out back and see these three 06s we have, he explained they had them out there b/c they were trying to get rid of the 05s.

They had two white 06s one vert auto with tan leather and a targa top one with red leather which was badass, it was a stick. The third was a silver one with ebony, a auto as well. I noticed all the 06s have a small gm emblem right behind the door on the front of the quarter down at the bottom which looked really cool and all the steering wheels are a 3 spoke on all the 06s. And the sales man said the antenna is in the rear view mirrors for better reception on the 06s. By the way the 06 vert was marked up to 80,000, the other two were marked up also. Which is bullshit.

That is ridiculous on that too. More than likely the dealers are full of it. I was in a Chevy dealership back in 94' , and there was a black Z28 convertible on the floor, and I over heard one of the salesman talking to some other people. He said, "this is the Z28 in the convertible line. It's supposed to go head to head with the BMW in this range of car line." I was like okay, bullshit.

The guys' probably selling flea collars somewhere today. They go through those guys fast anyways.

No doubt dude!! This is just the winning philosophy that GM needs to be doing right now considering their sitaution and the fact that foreign companies are kicking their *** to and fro. They are stupid. I think they need to get rid of the franchise dealers and go with corporate run places. I'm looking at Volvo V70R's right now as I wasn't impressed with the Magnum SRT.

Just to give an example on the caliber of service versus american dealerships and the foreign ones. I went to a Porsche dealership and was browsing at Cayenne Turbos. The salesman came out, was polite, talked up and down about the stuff on the floor. He wasn't pretencious or stupid and gave off a good vibe.. The guy let me sit in the car, and was really cool about everything. I had a real good talk about the car. He demonstrated evverything on that car and how it worked. I walked away with his card, and a ton of literature. I was won over and I was really looking.

After that, I went to a Dodge dealership and looked at Dodge Ram SRT10 Rams. I thought I was going to have to throw a brick through the showroom to get someone to help or talk to me. When I did, the guy was clearly not all that up on his product info. He wasn't all the polite; never went into much other than the trucks 1/4 miles times, which I couldn't have cared about. He walked off right in the middle of the conversation as I was looking at the tailgate operation. What a dick!!

The one that I rode in and drove yesterday was purchased for 62,000 dollars. Talk about a hell of a deal for a bad *** car!

All this markup talk has me wonderin'. I just bought an '06 coupe and got a $4500 discount off MSRP, plus $1500 more than Edmunds.com said I'd get on a trade in for my C5.
The dealership I was at had 05's and '06s lined up in the same row, and I could have gotten the same rebate on a vert, but they didn't have one with the Z51 pkg, so I passed. (aside from the fact it was almost 10k more)
At any rate, guess it's where you shop. This place prolly sells more vettes in the dallas area than anyone else, plus it's home to the lonestar corvette club.
Anyways, the C6 rocks. All I can say is it's an all around better car than the C5, and I loved my C5, don't get me wrong. If I could have kept that car and still afforded the C6, I'd have two vettes in my garage instead of just one.

Sometimes the best way to shop is to use the internet and hit 5-6 different dealerships, tell them what you want and see who is the most dishonest. It's nice to have these boards for that reason cause we have a good idea of what stuff sells for.

I beg to differ on the quality of service. I went to the Porsche dealership in houston looking at the new Boxsters. The sales guy was one of the most arrogant person I have every met. He would not stop going on about how many Porsches he has owned in his lifetime, made fun of the brand new '05 STS I drove up in, and also managed to insult my driving skills by saying that he has only sold two cars to people who were actually able to take this car to its full potential. And that I shouldnt think about doing anything to make the car faster than stock, rather I should learn how to drive. Now in his defense I agree that taking a Bondurant style school will definitely make a huge difference in improving my enjoyment of driving a high performance car.
Btw the two people that were able to push the cars to the max were Andretti's, or so he says.
And the Audi dealership down the street wasnt much better. I wanted to look at a manual S4. I specifically tell the guy this and he slumps his shoulders and sighs with annoyance that I would ask him to look at a car, not that thats his job or anything. He spent about 15 minutes on his inventory computer, came back told me that they didnt have any. I walked out on the lot and found two in about a minute and a half. I start asking him about the cars and if I could take one out to see if I liked it. He told me that they were both automatic but he would get the keys anyway. I take a closer look at the two cars and discover that one is a manual. Having gotten fed up with his nonsense I proceded to tell his sales manager, that because of his behavior they had just lost a sale.
Though I will agree that the help isnt much better at domestic dealerships. I think it just comes with the territory, the majority of people working in car dealerships dont really want to be there and they make their feelings know.
I apologize for the rant.

They still have 05s cause several other dealers in town sell their vettes at MSRP or less. Bill Heard is maybe the biggest, but also the worst dealer around, in terms of customer treatment and honesty.
