Reducing the Lag.. Whey is it that whenever I take off from a stop and just hammer it, there seems to be a lag whenever my transmission shifts from 1st to 2nd gear.My engine revs all the way then my car takes off. My question is, how can I reduce this lag? Change gears on my rear end or trans? If so what what be good? By the way I drive a 2000 a4 vette.
Without any additional information on your car, it is probably due to the low factory gearing (2.73 or 3.15 series), stock stall converter and stock tune. Change these three and I'm sure you'll be happy. I would suggest 3.42 or 3.73 gears, a 2800-3200 stall converter and a PCM tune with either a Diablosport Predator or another software program. I have a Predator for sale for the same year vette, if you're interested in that.
