Default clutch opinions

im about to do an H/C package shooting for 470rwhp, however, i'm retaining my stock ls1 clutch in my '02 C5. will this clutch hold up for daily driving and the occasional highway spirited blasts?
i go to the track maybe once a month, but there won't be any 1.6 60fts or anything like that. maybe 2.2-2.3 60fts on the stock clutch with this setup....

If you plan to launch the car with that power, the stock LS1 clutch will not have the clamping power to keep up. So it will wear out quickly. Same for strong shifts on the street.

So a better clutch will be needed at some point. Ditto with strengthening the rear end if you plan to be doing launches.

NO... been there.. tried that as well as others I know... pedal will stick and be a real bitch.

Get a Cartek Clutch. Best clutch for the money. IMO.

Cartek's new level 7 clutch will work fine for what you want. I used one last year and had over 75 Drag passes on it coming off the line between 5k and 6k RPM. It held up pretty well all things considered. I was pushing about 443 RWHP at the time.

spend the $$ and get a McLeod twin disc w/master cyl., you dont want to be changing the clutch often since its such a bi%&h of a job on the vette, I've been running one for a while now and it holds 5k dumps at the track like cake, you can hot lap the **** out of it too, it can handle any amount of power your throwing at it and will ALLWAYS grab.. one less headache for sure, my vote for McLeod...

i replaced mine with a spec2+ also had to upgrade slave and master and still need drill mod

Be prepared for the clutch does not return syndrome. I know several vette owners that have had this problem. Upgrade the slave and master while you are at it.
