These threads always end up the same, but I'd say it depends on if it's a roll race or from a dig. From the dig the guy who can launch will win, easily enough. If it's from a roll the C5Z is going into the race with a 40-50 rwhp defecit... an uphill battle. I've seen LS2s with bolt-ons and no tune go ~390 rwhp. Better hope he misses a shift because if not it's all C6.

I mean intake exhaust AND headers. That is a pretty major upgrade for any engine to have. Then a custom tune that goes with it. Definately C6 over the stock Z06.
The Z06 can even the odds though by doing one of the following:
1. Slash the C6's tires.
2. Let out the C6's tires and break the tire pressure sensors.
3. Put drag slicks on.
4. Flash pictures of the C6 owners wife/sister/mother/girlfriend/all of them at the same in one massive orgy.
Otherwise I don't think a Z51 handling package will do much from a drag point of view and I think that the if it had the A4 or A6 paddleshift it will also help it if it had the transmission tuned at the same time. Plus if it has soft shocks and springs that will also help on a launch.
When I tuned my Z28's transmission it made a real difference, shift point and clutch engagement rate. The shift firmness made a hell of a noticable difference on a butt dyno.

The outcome in post #1 always depends on the driver.
As in all sports, equipment is a factor but the skill of the player or operator is of paramount importance. The more so when you're talking about traction-limited cars.
In my 2002 Z06 I ran at the drags with two bolt-on C6s. It was a day that I had a pulled ACL on my clutch leg. Bone stock on stock tires I ran 12.34, 12.17, 12.14, 12.10. The bolt-on C6s didn't run better than 12.3X and they were on DRs. In a match race with the C6, my first pass and still trying to make my bad clutch leg work properly on shifts, He ran 12.38 to my 12.34. That was the closest the C6s got that day.
There were a half-dozen C5Z there that day with CAI and DRs. They were running 11.8X-11.9X but all the drivers had a fair amount of seat time. Still that was 4-5 tenths better than the bolt-on C6s.
Results may vary. All depends on the drivers.

Yeah but with an automatic you don't need driver skill

Even better with a stall and tires, then you just need the cash to rebuild the rear-end!!!
Plus if you don't care about the breakage factor a shift point tune set for your stall and cam will dominate in a drag.

So I took the z06 down to houston this weekend, and as i was sitting on the service road, a yellow c6 goes down the highway, i bust *** to get out (mainly for the soul purpose of this thread) on the highway, and catch up to him, we're rolling about 70mph, we drop down to about 65 and i look at him, he looks at me and we go at it. I'm a BONE STOCK z06... he was a BONE STOCK C6... i was SLOWLY pulling on him from 70ish - 125ish. But... i was pulling. If that car had what your buddies has... he'd have put me in my place. It made me want my mods faster. Specially as an 04 cobra i never saw, passed us both!
