Tire swap question?

Tire swap question? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Stock regular 1998 C5 vette wheels are 17x8.5 up front, and 18x9.5 in the rear. They wear 245/45/17 in the front and 275/40/18 in the rear.
I want black Z-06 wheels which are an inch wider all around (17x9.5 up front and 18x10.5 in the rear). Will the stock tire size be too narrow then since the wheel is an inch wider?
I understand how tire sizes work & what the numbers mean etc...but how do you know what is too narrow.
Just wondering if I need to buy new tires or not...
