Default Vette year differences

My buddy is looking to get into a C5. The only thing is, he is trying to spend a certian amount of cash here. So he may go with a 99-00. He is for sure going to go with an auto. Is there any differences or known issues when looking at a vette that is a 1999 as looking at a 2001?
What are the main differences/concerns between those specific years?
THANKS
Jon

The only differecne I know of is the intake mani, like you said.
I can not see there being much of a difference besides that...especially when the wheels, full exhaust, full induction and some drivetrain will be changed anyway...

The C5 was 1997-2004. THe only difference that I know of was the 1997 which had the fuel rails with return lines. THe early <99 blocks (like all LS1s) can only be cleaned up .004" unlike the later blocks that can be bored .010 over.

fuel return was in 98 as well i think.. in 2001 heads went from 853 casting to 241.. slight cam changes also.. in addition to the LS6 intake.. dont forget the pup cats.

So basically nothing noticable or worth spending the huge difference in price

Some 2001's had oil usage problems, and went in for re-ring jobs.
