Aluminum Flywheels
does any have any experience with aluminum flywheels? how do you like them? opinions.....
Right now i have the TSP MS3/LS6 stg 1 heads/FAST 90/90 w/ supporting boltons... i'm trying to hit my 470rwhp goal so i'm getting rid of the stock clutch and going with a RAM power grip and fidanza alu. flywheel, i'm going to have my 90mm TB ported, longer (7.450) pushrods installed, and a revised tune. Do you think I'll see 470 to the wheels?

I like them. I think they are easier on the driveline because the engine rpms will pull down more when the clutch is released so some of the shock that would "hit" the driveline goes back to the engine. You will need a couple more thousand rpm when you drop the clutch at the dragstrip. I also think it helps with excessive wheelspin when starting.
I went from a steel flywheel to an aluminum one. With the lighter flywheel the engine rev'ed noticeably freer, but I could not get the car to come out of the hole at the track, without it bogging. I normally would come out at 4000 rpm, carrying the front tires a little. With the lighter aluminum flywheel, the car would rise then fall over. I even tried comnig out at 6200, on the rev limiter. It did the same thing. I gave up and went back to a steel flywheel. For drag use, I'd go steel. For autocrossing, the lighter aluminum flywheel is a good way to go. Bob
