Default c5R vette??

this weekend i ran into a corvette on my way passing through Humble, Tx (for those of you who know where thats at). we played around a little and a few lights later he stops next to me.. i asked the guy if his car was a z06, which i knew it wasnt due to the body type, but it did have the brake ducts. he replies back no its not a z06 its a c5r... i had never heard of it so i did some diggin.. and what i come up with is that its a motor, but did it come out of production with it or an aftermarket upgrade? once again i had never heard of this so if someone can fill me in on what exactly it is, that would be nice! thanks

http://www.7extrememotorsports.com/l...rvette-c5r.htm

It's known as both a car and block.. The C5R block was the first 427 LSx motor. The block it's self retails for about 10k. The block is rerred to as the C5R block because thats what it's found in... a C5R. The link above should give you more info about what a C5R. Also the pics above are of a C5R.

hope this helps.

Damn I dunno if it was a real C5R you saw but if it had the full kit and engine thats pretty cool too. I know GM races them so I dont think that they would be released to the public to be titled and driven on the street?

well it def wasnt the yellow or blue/black vettes above as obviously those are some serious machines.. it makes me skeptical cause i wouldnt think ide pull it how i did (not as bad as a friends mid high 12 second c5 but it wasnt even at my back bumper .. it looked like regular c5 just had the side skirts from a z06.. didnt sound rattical or anything, but was a nice car for sure! when i searched for c5r i got alot of stuff to do with a 427, is that the motor that is linked to that car?

yea the c5r is a 427 CI engine, all aluminum, and is a bad *** piece of machinery. I believe a complete C5R engine goes for upwards of $25K and it is the engine that is linked to the car.

the C5R and C6Rs are not street legal. its quite possible that somebody has a C5R based engine with some C5R bodywork, but not a full on C5R.
