Default Broken FlyWheel, need help.

Working on a 2000 Corvette, sitting still in park, reved the motor to about 3500 rpms. Had the AutoTap hooked up. Anyway the flywheel blew all of the teeth off, not too much damaged so far. I still need to tear it all down. I'm wondering is this a job I should pay the local shop $400.00 to do or should I do it myself.? And what's the top of the line flywheel? Looking for 900 hp to the wheels..... How much$$$$

it is a pain in the *** to do, it will take you a full day probebly. if you have the extra money i would just say have it done, i am hoping i don't have to put a new clutch in my car for a long long time. if it wasn't a c5 i would say do it yourself.

Yes it was a stock flywheel. I just put in a new motor, tranny, rear-end and suspension. The car was still sitting on the trailor I used to trailor the car to get it tuned...I'm having an issue with the car. No one has any idea what's goingon. I start the car, it idles fine, but as soon as I put it in gear the car stalls, almost like you turn the key off...

I have had both problems on my 2000 C5. The flywheel (flexplate) shattered while going about 75 in 2nd gear (A4). The dealership ended up putting in a new engine, rebuilding the trans. The block in the back was shattered by the impact of the shrapnel. The starter mounting holes were obliterated, and the starter was dangling on its wiring. The tranny was also severly damaged. All in all about $13,700 for the fix. Thanks to my extended warranty my cost was only $100. The engine stall when putting it in gear is also a problem I just had. The fix ended up being a new steering lock motor, along with a new BCM. There is a safety feature programmed into the computer that will not allow the engine to run while in gear, if the sensors tell it the lock mechanism is not operating properly. At least that's what the dealership told me. Are you getting any info on the display? Mine read; "Service Column Lock". I hope your engine block is not damaged. I hope it all turns out good. Mike F.

Thanks Mike. No I'm not getting any codes on the display, well I'm getting a P0748 which has to do with the tranny control module. But Carl Rossler the owner of Rossler Tranny who built my tranny told me to not worry about the code. I now have a vaccum modulator on my tranny, and that code may randomly come up. I am getting a read out saying traction control warming up. I have never seen that before. I think my problem is becaure, I just installed a new motor, new tranny new rear-end and all new suspension at the same time. I have a nice baseline tune so I can break in the car before getting an actual dyno tune. But I can't even get the car to run properly to break it in.... I need help.
