I bought a 2001 Black, 6-speed, 1SB package with 71,000 miles on it for $22,500 in 2004
That's worth about $19,000 tops.

It's hard to find the deals nowadays.
I paid $33k for a 2002 Z06 with 15k miles on it in Austin.
Private party $32k and $35k for retail.
I got 2k off because I was a repeat buyer.
$25k is right at retail for the coupe he mentioned if it is low on options.

well i looked up the retail value of the average 99-02 c5 and most if not all were between $23-27k with moderate mileage. i have seen some c5's around $17-20k but most were at or above 100k miles but still in good condition. dont know but i really want to buy one, soon i hope cuz im about to dump some $$$ on dyno tuning, trans, suspension, and a rear end soon in a few months.

FRC
first of all the FRC weighs less than the coupe and just a little more than a zo6 not to mention the chassis is little stiffer. FRC's are also more rare than a coupe.
as to price I paid $25 for my white 01 zo6 in california with 38k on the clock.

I just bought a 00 Coupe for 18k and love taking the top off, I was thinking about getting a Z06 but wouldnt of found one for the price I got mine, plus I can make it faster than a stock Z06 but still have the targa top.

The Z06's "hold" there value more. It's crap if you ask me. The C5 Z06 wasn't that damn pricey to begin with.
My 2001 Convertible had a higher retail value because it was so loaded with options. It was definately a lot better equipped (magnesium wheels even), though I would never have noticed that the Z06 was "bare bones" had I not driven the loaded C5 first.
When you compare a full optioned C5 to the new crap they have on the C6 it sorta makes you feel like you are driving a 95 Accord though.
I want something talking navigation.
Now that I think about it my 2001 was worth 33k retail with 23k miles on it while my 2002 was 34k retail with 15 miles on it.
I dunno look at www.corvettepalace.com, they have good examples.

Personally I would go with an FRC, apart from all the benefites and disadvantages people have already mentioned. Its a rare car, makes people take a secoud look and wonder what it is. Whats the difference between that and a zo6.
I'am a huge fan of Vettes especially c5's not so much c6 but thats just my opinion, especially FRC's !
Thats just my 2 cents. Good luck with your decision.

ANd rare? Its a c5, no matter what options you have its really not "rare" anyways lol
Its really personal preference, i prefer the lines of the coupe and the ability to take the roof off.
To each his own
