Default Torque Tube Issues

Guys due to a vibration at mid range rpms and a tranny I need to replace. I will be doing a lot of work on my vette soon, the vibration appears to be coming from the rear portion of the torque tube and its not the torque converter out of balance. Can I pull the internals out of the torque tube without unbolting the outer shell from the engine block? Any ideas what can be causing this vibration, the car has 130k miles, does the rear coupler tend to go bad, does the triangular plate that bolts to the converter get bent? I would like to take care of it all at once and get my smooth vette back.

Thanks,

Sounds to me like the rear rubber coupler is going bad. Its to be expected at 130K miles.

You basically have 3 choices..

1) Replace the rear coupler only. Even though you cant buy them from GM, there is a guy on the corvetteforum.com that sells them for about 100 bucks.

2) Buy a solid aluminum coupler from LG motorsports (Or equivalent vendor)

3) Replace the entire torque tube..

You could talk to East Coast Supercharging. They do a normal driveshaft inside the tube. It has normal u-jionts and everything.
