Fuel Gauge Problems

I was wondering if anyone has had this problem, or knows what might be wrong: The fuel gauge on my 98 c5, has twice now, just gone to empty for no apperent reason. It has only been when driving for longer periods at a time. ie. over 100 miles. If i turn the car off and start it back up everything returns to normal.

Would appreciate any suggestions!

I have same problem

The dealer told me it usually is a bad sending unit.

I've heard that this is a super common prob with C5's. I believe it has to do with wire corrosion in the sending unit???

This one has been beaten to death on CF. Yes, it's crap on the sending unit. To get rid of it, dump some Techron concentrate in your gas and run Chevron premium gas from now on. A few tanks and a couple bottles and you should be ok.
