K&N or Blackwing
K&N or Blackwing I'm trying to decide if I should use the K&N in the stock box or the Blackwing filter. I have both, but on my old car the Blackwing seamed to get dirty real quick due to being all open. This is going on a '02 Z06. Does anybody think there would be a power difference?
well the stock air box and filter are very restrictive, but better than the regular c5's air box. I would say if you had the choice, get the blackwing. You should be able to pick up some extra hp for sure. With the blackwing gettind dirty, that depends on where you live and how much you drive the car. You can also look into some afternarket CAI's for the Z06 also. There are more than a few out there.

I replaced a Z06 airbox/stock paper filter w/ Blackwing, picked up next to nothing in 1/4 mile. I think to see any real improvement you gotta go with filter/intake that pulls cooler air, i.e. Vararam, Honker or Hurricane.
If I hadda do it again I'd spend the xtra $$ and go w/ Honker.

The K&N requires cutting of the panel. ewww. I didn't cut mine (I don't like hackin things up) but now the geometry for the intake tube is a little off. PITA. Get the Blackwing.. it fits better.
