I need help w/ a pinging/clicking problem My 2002 vette is bone-stock save for a catch can. I always use Shell 93 octane. Over a week ago in Mesquite, TX I filled up with Shell 93 and later that day the car started making a clicking when I would get on it a little, even worse if I let it get up to 3 or 4k (I let off after a second bc I dont want to hurt my motor).
I have taken the car to the dealer who is the master tech there, he drives car and says it's a bad fuel problem. He does a GM induction service on it, and tells me to keep driving the car, and the problem will go away. Three full tanks later and I am still clicking and it is drivng me crazy. This tech told me over and over that there is nothing mechanically wrong with the car, it will just "take time" to clear up. This aint a zit, man, it's my FREAKIN VETTE!!!
Anyone ever experience this problem and what did you do? I have already tried using two octane boosters at a time, and used seafoam in the tank with no results, plus have had the car de-carbed. Would anything else be causing this problem?
I am ready for this **** to be over.
My car has ran perfectly for almost 30k (bought w/ 56k now has 81k) and I flog her daily. Well, I used to flog her daily, now I drive like a pencil-necked hybrid driver.
