Default Considering a corvette

Well after looking into all the l92 l76 stuff for c6 vettes I'm considering trading my 03 cobra in and going that route. I know I can easily make over 600hp in the cobra but I still have a heavy *** car to push around and the gas mileage would be horrible. Where as if I went with a c6 I could make 480 on a dd setup and be about as fast while still getting over 20mpg. I was wondering you'll opinions I know they'll be biast based on the site however I would still like to hear peoples thoughts.

Personally, I really like the way the Cobra's look (my brother has a 99), but my vette has 550 RWHP (blown, cammed) and gets 14/28 MPG, and drives like a stock Vette, until you get on it . Go and test drive a vette, and then base your decision on that. I think the vette is a totally different car than the Cobra. I think that personally, I would get a Vette. Thats just my .02.

Lord bro, I know it's tough and you feel like a traitor, like your friends are all gonna make fun or hate you cuz you're a turn coat.

But the vette rides and turns like a dream. I have both, 02 Roush and 02 vette. The vette is AWESOME. With mods, incredible. Just go and drive one. Get a c5. Same car basically with less cabin goodies and .3 liters smaller motor. Save alot of money doin it that way if you want a fast vette.

Ya if I go with a vette it would either be a c5z or a c6 I chose the c6 just due to the cheapness of the l92/l76 upgrades.

Oh cool. I just like getting attention.

After cruising in a Mustang (father-in-law) a Corvette is fun, but you lose all the function that the Mustang offers.

True but I really don't use the back seat for anything besides school junk that doesn't need to be in my car anyways.

I didn't realize how much I missed the openable hatch on my Z28 and its backseat until I seriously needed it.

I ended up having to buy a Scion xB:

1. Interior space especially for long crap
2. I didn't mind carrying potentially damaging crap in the Z28 since it was only a 16k car used, 22.5k new. The Z06 is over 50k new. Not gonna nick that sucker's interior for the world.
3. Needed something people weren't going to vandalize in this crime ridden hellhole of a city (Albuquerque) in the most barren state in the union (NM).

The seals and top on my C5 were damaged within a week of me being here.

If I was in Austin next to family and friends than there would be no problem.

Ya, i guess it's one of those things that I won't realize until I switch. As far as crime is concerned I'm right there with you I live in Dallas.

Don't know if you're interested or not, but there is a domestic/exotic car leasing place in Ft. Worth where you can rent a car for the day. They have everything there that you'd be interested in (new style vehicles...so no C5's ) However, if you're considering a C6 (whether base style or Z06) you can rent one there for the day and test the hell out of it. A friend of mine rented the C6Z06 last week, and I drove it...wow!

For the record, they also have all the cool exotics as well; lambos, farraris etc. If you're considering spending the coin on a new one, renting one for a day to check it out without a salesperson being present is the way to go.

Since the place isn't a sponser here, I don't think I can post up their website here, but if you're interested, PM me and I'll send you their homepage link...

FWIW, a good friend of mine has a 04 terminator (pullied, catback etc) and I loved his car, the torque was incredible; however, he enjoyed driving my stock C5Z06, and whenever we went on a drive, it was always him asking to go in the vette, said that he aways caught looks in it whereas he didn't in the cobra. He also said that the handling was Fing incredible compared to his terminator. Honestly, both cars deserve props, I just think that one is a little classier than the other. Sorry, I'm rambling here.

PM me if you're interested in the link. Good luck on your choice

Ya thanks for the post doc, I know what company your talking about. As far as torque is concerned it's awesome and our cars can make great power on the stock motor and for a mustang the suspension isn't bad it's just harder for a pig heavy car to handle great. The funny thing is I've actually never ridden in a vette and I'm thinking about getting on I should probably go testdrive one.

Good luck with your decision. You'll have plenty of power on tap from either the Z, or the terminator. They're both super awesome cars.

4.6,

When you get a little extra time, head over to 21st Century Muscle Cars. Speak with John about what you are looking for....take a peek in the back and see what they are working on.

Time well spent.

I ended up letting my 04 cobra go for my new C6, and I couldn't be happer. The exterior and interior of the C6 is just awesome with all the neat **** they give you. Also the light weight and potential of the LS2 are just as nice as the cobras potential. Plus, the corvette is so nice and easy to drive.....especially with the removable top off. I didnt regret my decsion to get the vette, but the 03/04 cobras are very sexy and I will always love them. But I didnt enjoy driving my cobra nearly as much as the new vette. Its such a nicer car, but the price tag is a tad hard to swallow. Get the C6 and dont look back.
