Default Vengeance Racing Cam/Header install results

Last week I dropped my car off at Vengeance Racing for a few goodies.

Vengeance/Comp Cam-228/230 .588/.591 113 LSA
LG Streets w/cats
Comp 918 springs
Comp pushrods
ported LS2 oil pump
LS2 timing chain
ASP underdrive pulley
NGK TR55 plugs
ported throttle body

I asked Ron for a before and after dyno run. The only performance mods I had going in were a Callaway Honker and Borla Stingers.

baseline run-375.13 rwhp 362.95 rwtq (Ron said that my car was a factory freak)

after install-440.74 rwhp 412.70 rwtq

To say that I'm happy about the results would be an understatement. The car drives like stock. No sputtering, stalling, or any other issues even with the air going at very low rpms. Vengeance did a great job and I couldn't be happier (unless it was free).

Great results with such a small cam. I would've thought you'd need something over .600 / .600 with 236/236 duration or higher to get those kind of cam only numbers. Now go get some AFR 205 heads. You'll be looking at over 480 rwhp and 440 rwtq if you are lucky.

There's been a heated debate on their dyno numbers in other sections/threads...

Nice high numbers. Congrats.

Yup, sure has... I think that ended when our cars trapped 101 in the 1/8 on shakedown runs... Also ended this weekend when we had 34 GTOs on the dyno and over half of them said their #s are lower here than other local dynos ....

Notice the Z06 above made 375 with just a cold air... This car is VERY strong out of the box... Had it only made 355 in stock trim it would have made 420 with our cam package. Everything would have been right in line... He just happens to have a VERY strong car from the factory...

Congrats on the #s!!! We are glad you are happy!!!

Hey Joshua, why dont you bring your FireHawk by and strap it down. Its been almost a year since you were tuned @ GMMG. We could do a good A/B on our dyno to see if it is in fact "high" as you say

I don't think so Ron. I'd rather keep my distance from you and your shop.

You are definately turning out some very good Dyno numbers for the cars you have done work on. Your point was made with the 101 mph 1/8 mile trap times. So I'd say the results are backing up your claims. You must be doing something that other shop owners don't know about, or as they say, "its all in the tune" How much difference in the tune is there from shop A to shop B when both shops are turning out similar results with comprable pkgs?? Is there something in the way you tune that is yielding more hp? Are your tunes pushing the edge a bit as far as "safely tuned"?

Please don't think I am "trolling" here to start some ****, just very curious about the awesome results you guys are getting for your customers. BTW keep up the good work, and I hope I don't run into any of your 500 rwhp customers on the street because my LG Motorsports H/C bolton with 78 mm FAST only made 460/420, hopefully with Louis's ported FAST 90 mm and a NW 90 mm TB I'll be near 480 rwhp, still not enough to equal what you guys are doing with comprable pkgs. Good luck and I wish you much success in the future.

Thank you for your constructive post. I do not think you are trolling at all. We are having great success with our packages right now. These TrickFlow heads/paired with a GOOD ported FAST 90mm Intake and the right camshaft are simply making power. I have always said it is in the TOTAL PACKAGE... Slinging parts at a car doesnt mean it is going to make power. People who do their homework and pick the right parts to work with one another usually come out with powerful/reliable packages.

As for your combination, I personally think the 78mm FAST isnt worth much if anything over an LS6.. That being said, the LEAST we have ever picked up with a 90 is 22rwhp/10ft lbs... That would bring you to 482/430s.... DAMN impressive if you ask me...

Congrats on the numbers but honestly I never put much faith in dyno numbers. We had a local guy dyno over 60rwhp difference between two dynos. That car should go 125-127 in normal air @ 440rwhp. And honestly 1/8 mph doesn't mean squat, the big end shows HP.

I think the intent of this thread was to show that the customer picked up 65rwhp and 50 ft lbs of torque with the addition of our cam package and LG Longtubes..... The A/B is what is important, not the overall peak #

Have any of the timeslips from all these runs been posted yet?

I just wanted to add an addendum. I have been privately talking with Ron and he has been fair and straight forward with me about his shop. I still would like to see timeslips but I do want to publicly apologize for being a bit unfair to question him out of hand. This was not fair of me and I am sorry I did it.

Guys if you don't like there dyno numbers or track times then don't go to there shop. If they do a good job than take your car there. Don't come and start bashing a guy who is starting a shop with great success and putting food on his table for his family. If you don't have anything good to say than say nothing unless they personally did you bad as a customer of theres. Good luck with the shop Ron

If you call Ron I'm sure he will be happy to give you a quote. I don't really want to discuss the pricing, but I will say it was less than I expected to spend.

I do not think anyone is bashing much anymore except for the GB people. Most people now just want more information.
