B&M short throw C5
1. Re-install the black rubber shift boot over the new shifter. A lot of people leave this part out and this allows drivetrain and heat to enter the cabin. The boot is basically a layer oof insulation.
2. Buy an aftermarket shift ****. A big complaint is a rattling noise at idel and lower RPMs once an aftermarket shifter is installed. This is due to the original shifter **** being held on by a tapered wedge. Most people (including myself) are not able or willing to press on the factory **** with sufficent force to seat the tapered wedge. Plus an aftermarket ****, like a 2" aluminum ball will shorten the shifts even more.
Good luck...
