Default HID headlight question.

I have the Corvette Garage HID kit on my Vette. I hooked it all up and everything worked like a charm. I had to send the driverside HID headlight assembly for repair. I get the headlight back today, put it in, hook up the connectors etc. The problem is this, I have had the battery dis connected for about a month or so straight. When I took the driver side headlight out for repair, the driver headlight stayed up since there wasnt the other HID connection. The passenger side headlight was closed. Once I connected the battery the driver hadlight went down, after both lights worked I shut them off but the lights wont go down now.

I dis connected the battery once again for several minutes. Hooked the battery back up and both headlights go down and close once they get power. Once the lights are on and you try and turn them off, they stay up. I can hear the motors trying to go down and see the manual ***** spin maybe half a turn and the lights stay up.

I dont think its te gears or the headlights wouldnt go up, right?? Or could the gears cause the lights to go up but not go down? And both headlight gears at the same time? There is no grinding, or any out of the ordinary noise.

Try flashing the brights. If the headlights go down because you flashed the brights then it is a voltage draw problem. The computer thinks one of the headlights is blown so it forces them to stay up. I would also double check all of your connects to make sure they are tight.

The only time the lights will close the brights are on. I have gone over the whole system 4 times and everything is the way it should be connected.

Why all of a sudden would there be a voltage draw problem when they worked fine before? The car isnt drivable and has been sitting since last fall.

The battery shows 12.4 volts, could the problem be that the car isnt running while the lights are trying to go down??

Could the actuator be bad on one side and cause this problem? Like I said the problem wasnt there until I put the headlight back in yesterday.

hhhmmmm........interesting well my C5 spent 4 months sitting in my garage and I guess the battery has power instantly and then it completely draws all of it because I would turn on the car for a min then turn it off and I would try to turn off my lights expecting they will go down but they would stay up but the light did turn off.The problem was that my battery was bad when the engine was off but when it was on it was if it was the energizer bunny I guess cause of the alternator but well hope you can figure out your problem try posting on different sites or a search thats how I found out my problem and see what answeres you get

Do not know if it is an actuator. I would think if you can see if the car has the problem when started, or try another battery. I do not think the actuator would cause the problem, but you never know. I have the same kit you have on my car and it should not operate like that.

Problem solved. The problem was the battery was at 12.4 non constant volts. I guess the HID's needed a constant 12.5. Now the lights work like normal after a quick charge of the battery.
