C5 Fan Trick
Get a chance to hot-lap at the drag strip? Hate paying that horsepower penalty when the coolant temp soars? There is a work-around short of a fan switch or tuning the PCM.
All it take is a 6 inch piece of wire and a couple minutes to do the set up the first time. After that about two minutes each time you go to the track. Helpful in the summertime too; keeps the engine temps in the range for good power.
I put up a page at my site with a how-to for turning on the fans without tuning or a switch.
Here is a link: C5 Fan Trick.

Thanks Ranger. As always; great information. I wish I had know this bit of information when my car was stock. I would have made quite a few more passes instead of sitting around waiting for my car to cool down.

my fans come on at 180 and 190 respectively, also have the Meziere ewp with LG's g2 supercool radiator. I haven't run into a situation yet where I would need anymore cooling. What temps do you suggest to be at when getting ready to run the 1/4 ??

For example, hot-lapping the 2002 Z06 on DRs with the Fan Trick on and the coolant at a consistent 194, it ran 11.53, 11.57, 11.58 in less than 15 minutes.
The point of the Fan Trick is that it doesn't require tuning or a switch; it costs one 6-inch piece of wire and a couple minutes to set up.

And if you install a switch in that wire you could turn it off and on.

But your relay on the C6 might not be in the same spot or look the same.

I've found no easy way to trick the fan on, as I did on the C5.
If someone knows of a way without tuning or an add-on module, please post up.

Thanks Ranger. I think I might just make this one a permanent thing and operate off of my nitrous switch via a relay. That way, when I'm at the track and flip on the first "ready" switch of the N20, it will boot up my fans. Cool digs.
