Would like to know myself. I have the cables already, so, i am probably gonna use one of the wells in the back(right rear).....but, it has to be covered right? nhra legal anyways?... anyone have any pic's of custom setups in that location?

You may have to do that hulk,...to save a few. The lingenfelter kit, in my opinion, is pricey to me too,.

To be NHRA legal, the box must be able to be sealed with a vent tube to the outside. Also, if you relocate the battery you will need a master off switch on the outside of the car with on/off visibly marked.

If you want to see some setups check with guys that run intercooled maggies. The intercooler reservoir sits in the battery location so the battery has to be relocated.

The reservoir sits on top of the battery. It is not necessary to relocate your battery. I had my battery relocated by a custom fabricator shop, then I used the battery area to relocate my coils.

Default Battery relocation on C5

Keep in mind that not a lot of metal structure exists in the back of the Corvette so getting a standard battery box isn't going to give you a good way to actually mount it to anything sturdy enough to support a HEAVY lead-acid battery. Attaching it to the fiberglass alone is not a good idea.

For safety reasons, if you do just purchase a battery box from Jegs, Summit etc. (Moroso has one too), be sure to create some kind of metal brace that supports the load of the battery and carries it out to sturdier parts of the Corvette. I guess you could use our installation instructions as a guide. They can be downloaded from our web site.

BTW - the Lingenfelter battery relocation kit is NHRA, IHRA and SCCA legal.

Thanks for the info. I always thought the reservoir was a lot bigger than that.

I got an LPE box i'll be selling in a week or two.. without cables, but with the vent tube and the nice mounting bars/etc. it's slightly used. And yes, the LPE piece is bad *** and fully legal, and of Lingenfelter Quality.

Have you designed anything for the 97-98 vettes with the rear mounted ABS.....I bought a unit from LPE and its only mounted to the fiberglass...because the ABS in the rear hits the bracing...

Thanks Tom

Default 97-98 battery relocation and ABS

We made a bracket that was designed for the 97-98 cars with the ABS system clearance problem but due to the low volume sales of this kit and since it only applied to the 97-98 cars, we never went into production with the design.

Using the same mounting points as our standard support mount, you should be able to fabricate or have someone fabricate for you from 3/4" tubing or 1/8" flat stock a bar that maintains the same mounting points but is contoured to fit around the ABS module.
