Default Tunnel plate or heat wrap X pipe?

Hey all, I have American Racing Headers with high flow cats and an X pipe on the way - question is should I heat wrap the X pipe or get a tunnel plate?

why do either... I have LG Long tubes and off road X-pipe dont have an issue.... Maybe I am just a newbie but why ??

I would say heat wrap the exhause prob cheaper than the tunnel plate, from what I understand they are expensive and you have to drop the tq tube to get it in ..

Go with a ceramic coated tunnel plate. It will help with the heat some and make the frame even more rigid. You can get one for about 150 shipped to your door, just shop around. Install isn't bad but since you have long tubes you may have to drop them a bit to get to the front bolts. The mid section will have to come out. That has been claimed a lot, but I have not seen any actual proof they are better than the stock plate. I do not see the point of doing either one unless you are pushing a lot of extra heated exhaust from the turbo where the downpipe if fed back into the exhaust system.

I don't see how it can't help stiffen the frame. Have you ever had the stock plate out? You can fold it with your bare hands. A couple of plate manufacturers have some temp data out but if you use one the difference is noticable.
