Need some opinions on a build and alts.
I've got a dry sump system that has to be installed because of my suspension.
Hence... engine has to be dropped regardless to install it.
I got a pretty solidified quote from a builder whom I trust for all in, including tax, labor, parts, for a 402 and required fuel upgrades(racetronix and 48lb injectors, it's an 04Z06). It's not for maximum power, but for lightweight within reason (my crank has to be keyed and I do not like the idea of adding weight to a rotating assembly piece, I prefer removing).
It came in at 19.2K.
Would I be better off with just a hairy ***** out LS1? This is the thought tree that I have
If it came in at 20K... it reaches a plateau of where I'll start to look at dumping the car for a more cost effective alternative. It's already got me thinking regardless
Requirements: Keyable crank, lightweight assembly, compatible with LG 1 7/8 headers (good torquey headers, but will cost a little up top unless a long exhaust duration as I've been told). Must be from a seperate block, I'm driving the car till the day of the swap and want very very little downtime.
all input appreciated:
1) LS2 402 like the one I mentioned; nice trickflow heads, caddy lifters, head studs, 4.005 bore (no boost, but the thickness will be an issue for the abuse I dish out)
Cost: 19.2K
2) LS1 346 hairy, all ***** stock displacement, new rotating assembly
Cost?
3) LS1 383
Cost?
