Default New to the Forum, 427 Swap

Hello, I'm new to the forum and looking for direction. I have a 2000 M6 Conv C5 since new. Looking for direction for prior posts or where to post for the following subjects:

1. LS1 mod to 427
- Camshaft selections to stay within CA smog limits
- LS1edit baseline parameters for the 427
- What aftermarket TB is recommended/size
- Can stock injectors be retained or need to be replaced with what?
- Pitfalls to the swap to be aware of
- Does the engine exit the chassis from the top or bottom?

I race a Pontiac GTO and a 230 inch SC Dragster, all Pontiac powered, so I'm ignorant to the LS1 and need some learn'in.

thanks

I'm running a 242/242 on 114 LSA and I wouldn't be surprised if that passes. However, I haven't smogged this combo yet.

When you get the motor near the car I can help you. Need to know some particulars first.
- What aftermarket TB is recommended/size
Factory, ported, is fine.
- Can stock injectors be retained or need to be replaced with what?
No, you will need at least 30 lb'ers but I'd recommend larger.
- Pitfalls to the swap to be aware of
The power upsets the balance of the car and you can look forward to a major upgrade in clutch, tires, brakes and suspension - oh, better consider tubbing and 18x12 wheels with the 330x18's you'll be adding
- Does the engine exit the chassis from the top or bottom?
I've done it both ways but for me, the exiting the bottom was a more sanitatary swap.

I race a Pontiac GTO and a 230 inch SC Dragster, all Pontiac powered, so I'm ignorant to the LS1 and need some learn'in.

thanks

Thanks for the info, looked at 'my 427 project'. Nice, has prompted additional queries. Have your email, so rather than clutter this bandwidth, I'll email you with my 'why didja, who didja list' list of questions, if that's OK?.
