I've been a handful of low 1.4xs, a couple 1.40s and a single 1.39. We were leaving alot harder than rob but also didn't really have the suspension figured out. The front and rear were way too soft. On the 1.39-1.42s, track prep was almost perfect and I left at the usual 6500 -7000 slipping the clutch out.

And for the record, I've done (1) 1.39 and (4) 1.40s. They are not easy by any stretch. my average 60' was 1.45.

That is tough stuff to beat. I have only 1 run as a 1.489, then many in the 1.51 to 1.58 range. Still tryng to figure a way to get it down to low 4's

Pittman,
What is your full motor and suspension setup? CCW drag pack?

That is impressive! I wish I could hit a 1.39, heck, I wish I could hang the tires on a 1.4x

Hey Phil.
I'm running stock bottom end, 224 reverse split cam (5.90 lift on a 109 LSA).
Here is the sound clip http://s160.photobucket.com/albums/t...ZO6Exhaust.flv

Added Vararam, Fast 90/90, AFR 225's, LG Longtubes, Under Pully, New RPM Tranny and RPS Stage 4+ clutch/alu flywheel. Tires are 17" ET Streets on Zo6 front rims (11.5 psi) and Goodyear Frontrunners on GTO rims (weigh 18lbs\total tire and wheel). I have been holding 5000 rpm then dropping the clutch pretty fast as I stomp the gas. Launch actually is 6500-6800 according to the log. Suspension is totally stock except for the DTE Brace (also have both shafts hardened and a new 390/30 spline gear). Best 60 was letting the clutch out a hair slower and still 6500 rpm (a 1.489 sixty). That run was 11.523 @ 91 mph because I hit the brakes (I was flagged 3 weeks straight for breaking the 11.5 rule). Weather was a dripping humid 81 degrees and a 10-15 mph head wind. My best 1/8 was a 7.1 so far. I need to hit the 6's in cold air coming soon. This is a typical launch http://s160.photobucket.com/albums/t...ent=3rdRun.flv The Mustang ran a 10.9, I was right with him till the brakes.

I think you need to get your car tuned and try leaving alittle harder. A good SD tune is worth its weight in gold.

The tune is there. My son is very good..he got both of our rides down .20 straight from dyno tunes. We ran the dyno's as a base for the track and started tweaking as we logged. I go back in mid January..I will try leaving harder as you say and see what that brings. The cool air always gives me .20 lower ET here in Florida (80-90 degree air down to 50). Just got the McLeod master in also..I am leaving a lot on the table with the clutch problems. You can count one-two between some shifts before it will go in gear. Losing a ton there. I have actually seen cars beside me jump half a lenth by the time I can get it into gear. Thanks for the help.

SD is a better tune for a drag car. MAF relies on how quickly the sensor is cooled to determine airflow while SD uses RPM x manifold pressure. Drive a SD can and it will answer many many questions. I'd bet you $100 you would notice a SOTP difference in a SD vs MAF car and run faster at the track.

We did the same...alot easier to tune the idle and low rpm's for drivability.

Thanks. I was told by some that it wouldn't make a difference if your tune was good via the MAF but those were not the most reliable sources.

I will educate myself on this.

You can compare two cars(MAFVsSD) and log the A/F in a VE Table. Tell me what you find, the answers will make you change.

Default tuning

Phil,
we have 2 PCM's for the track because my son is using HP Tuners and my other tuner friend Doc, is using EFI Live. Hp automatically locks the tune so no one else can read it. Kind of sucks so we had to work around the BS with the second PCM for EFI. I have to be lucky just to get at least one of them at the track with me each time. Need to get off my As* and learn one of the programs myself.
