Transverse leaf springs . . .

Transverse leaf springs . . . I know the C4, C5, and C6 Vette used this suspension setup. Is it better than traditional coil springs, shocks, upper and lower a-arm setup? Its a very unique setup, and just wondering why nobody else has used it. Or maybe I'm wrong and there's some obscure car that uses transverse leaf springs.

I think time has shown that the leaf spring set-up works quite well, but a lot of the road race guys swap out to coil overs. So coil overs is probably still the better set-up.

Off the top of my head I know the old Shelby Cobra's (not the mustangs) used transverse leaf springs.
