My coupe with a 1/4 of gas and me sitting in it hits right at 3,400 lbs.
The easiest way to lighten a C5 is to pull the interior and use racing buckets. The seats, especially the power seats, are heavy so is all that carpet and insulation. Use non pop up head lights as the headlights and motors weigh like 40 lbs. After that is gets more difficult.

You can shed a decent amount of weight by going to lighter rims and non runflats(if you still have them). Swapping seats is an easy way to lose a few pounds also. I think after that its just going to be losing a pound or two here and there or tearing the car apart and losing the creature comforts.

The new Z06's front fenders are carbon fiber and weigh 3#'s each. Do they make carbon fiber fender's for the C5? I know they after market hoods. Also the 04 Commemorative edition Z06 came with a carbon fiber hood and lighter wheels.

I have a 2000 FRC and my friend has a 2003 Z06. With Hoosier A6's full tank of gas, TI exhaust, on both cars the weight difference is 3 lbs. From the factory the FRC was 36 lbs heavier than the Z, all but 3 lbs can be made up by non run flats and TI exhaust. About 4-5 times a year we corner weight and align these vettes.
