Default Cheap Exhuast ideas

So im looking to add a little bit of tone to my C5.. Nothing major, just want something that is a little louder than stock.
I think its ridiculous tho to spend the money on a cat back system that is priced way to high...
So my question is, are there any common exhaust setups for vettes that will give me some tone without going with a full cat back?
Like say, maybe just replacing the mufflers with a bullet style muffler? Something like that maybe?
I know the F-body guys have lots of tricks, What about for the Vettes?
Thanks -

Im off to wash her up and snap a few shots of the moon rocket

i think our friend here is thinking a bit cheaper, if you simply relace the mufflers u will pick up a noticeable amount of tone, the pipes are pipes, and if u look your factory exhaust is mandral bent on c5's anyway so if u can score a set of mufflers for maybe 200 u might accomplish the same........sometimes though when replacing with an aftermarket muffler on anything the muffler ends up slightly larger than the stock pipe on the car, if thats the case pull the over axle off your car and run it down to your local muffler shop, they can simply throw it on a pipe expander and puff the end of your stock pipe to fit the afterarket muffler. most shops, if u grab one of the guys aside and throw them a 10 dollar bill, take 5 minutes and blow your ends to fit..........and if u do take this route and you do run into this issue make sure u bring your muffler with you to test fit your expanded stock pipe

Try to find an OEM Z06 catback. It weighs 26 lbs, flows about as well as an aftermarket setup, and is slightly louder than the stock C5. They go for $300-400 used.

remove the cats that seems to make them a tad louder and flow better too.

I just put a hooker cat-back on my C5 last weekend, only $365 brand new. I was in the same boat I wanted something a small bit louder than stock and reasonably priced. Here is a short video right after install (yes, I know my tips are screwed up they need more adjusting)

Get dual cut outs... you can get electric cut outs that you close when you want it quite and open when you want a little extra power and sound.... cheap and effective

Muffler bypass mod. A&A made them. Cost about 100 bucks to do. Just a small pipe welded in to bypass the muffler and turns up the volume a bit.

I don't know if A&A even sell the pipes anymore but any decent shop could do it for you without issue. I've heard this mod in person on Ti mufflers and it sounded good. That's actually how I got my corsa's. The guy I bought them from did this mod for his Z06 exhaust and decided to go with them instead. Here's a link with some pics of what it looks like, very simple:

Sounds great on the z06 Ti, but will be expensive considering the cost of Ti plus the cost of having titanium properly welded. I run them with no cats, sounds almost as loud as my b&b bullets under acceleration and WOT, but very mild when cruising and rpms have settled down. Probably much the same effect on stock c5 exhaust, not as nice of a sound, and VERY inexpensive.
