I would say learn how to drive the car with the amount of power it has now. The amount of seat time in your car will help you out in the long run. A stock zo6 and a 03-04 cobra are about the same in power and et. The weight difference helps out the zo6 for the most part. After you learn the car and know how to shift it propperly is when I would start modding it. CAI and exhaust would be the first things to do though like all the other guys said.

Why dump a lot of money in a car and not know how to drive it right. It pisses me off to see other cobra owners not know how to drive the car the have then get beat by cars the should murder. Just my 2 cents

Hey fran any chance i can come hear that vette this week?

carfax, i had a z28 when i was 16(only 18 now) do im familiar with it kinda lol. I love the power and how it feels like nothing going through turns at 60 lol. My biggest problem is watching the rpm and the road at the same time to i know when to shift, im gettin the hang of it but i think im shifting too early.

When I have it in first and get on it hard should i work the peddle until it grabs or throw it in second at 6000rpm?

Oh one more thing, as far as gear to mph. If i were to race someone what gear to mph range should i be in?

from what i hear 55mph is 3rd gear right?

I would like to see a mph versus rpm/gear chart too. I know that 2nd lasts until around 65 but if you're at 55 I don't think I would go down to 2nd as it's not going to last very long, maybe from a 45 or 50 roll.

Personnally, don't do any mods for the time being and learn to drive the car as is. Get familiar with it whether its drag racing or road courses. There are many guys that just worked on technique and can get these things in the mid 11's all day long in stock form. There are those of us who chose road racing instead and found the car to be great in stock form. Then I started doing mods as I identified areas that I wanted it to be better at.

z28-zo6 two different cars. As I said learn the car every car is different. The only thing you car do is drive it.

So you must have snapped that 185 mph pic when you turned the key and the gauges do their full range sweep? I was puzzled for a second being that it's stock until I saw the other indicators!

I felt the same way. but dont get too carried away with it. I "accidently" waved at a guy with a WS6... he flipped me off instead

Hit up a Vararam Intake, you'll love it. Don't rely on only dyno numbers when choosing, it's a ram-air type of system, so the faster you're going the more power you're gonna get out of it. Also, a short shifter, a nice catback system Borla or Corsa have a lot of options and most that get put on a Z06 are gonna be loud at WOT and finally a good tune. With those few things you'll get some great power numbers along with a little bit better MPG's and reliability! Enjoy your Z and be careful, at 18 I still thought Mustangs were cool!
