I would think the C5 Z06 would hold resale or "collector" value better because it's a specialty model corvette. There isn't really anything "special" about a base model C6.

My favorite car is the 04 Collector Blue Z but I have a new 08 with a tune and cold air kit and it will hand a basically stock 04 ZO6 its *** easily and its an auto.
Get an 08 model for 7k off sticker and the cheaper financing and have a new very comfy warrior.

7K off sticker is still quite a bit more than an average C5Z. There's no replacement for displacement so I'm sure the LS3 is a much better platform to make power down the road (cam/heads/etc) but I doubt if you compare both cars each having an intake and tune that the LS3 would "hand it's *** easily". The C5Z still has a few advantages over a base C6, even an '08.

I agree 100% I'm just saying that it's not going to be handing a C5Z it's *** as mentioned (given equal drivers). In fact the Z51 tranny has the exact same first 4 gears as the M12 plus they're both 3.42:1 so they're going to be very similar...just comes down to power and weight.

Well me and a buddy just recently made this choice. I decided for the C5Z because performance was number one in my book, and he picked an LS2 C6Z51 because he wants to impress the ladies and have a comfortable DD car.
Here's a Video with our cars running. At the time of this video, I dyno'ed 358whp, and he dynoed 374whp. This was before my retune and the new sig numbers of 385/368.

Nice kill and he needs to work on his launch rpm.
