Trunk release what stops it ??

Trunk release what stops it ?? My Trunk release doesn't want to open via the remote or the dash button. 2001 conv...
Both the buttons work as they alarm when the conv top is ajar, which will stop the trunk from opening I know.
The circuit for the mech works as I have shorted the BCM module connection to earth B9 (Mimicking the BCM command)....
So either the BCM is faulty or the Logic is looking for another switch or something ?? any thoughts ??
