Auto trans shifter feels loose from trans My car 98 c5 is stuck in gear and the shfter moves way to easy from p to d it won't move past 3. I took shifter off and the cable is still hooked there. Where does it hook to the trans and how hard to get to it?
There is a bracket that bolts to the trans bell housing. It holds the cable housing and the cable snaps on the shifter select lever on the side of the trans. It can be seen easy from underneath on driver side of trans

Looks like the housing has com loose at the trans. The bracket is OK vut when you move the shifter the outer housing pulls away to the front and the cable is exposed. So when you put it in park it just bends the cable not push thru the housing.
